Who can use this feature 👥 Location admins and admins schedule and lead exercises 📱 Emergency responders take part via the App 💎 Optional module, which Safeguard switches on for your organisation |
You want your emergency responders not only to know what to do, but to have practised it too. With the exercise module, you schedule a practical exercise in the dashboard. At the time of the exercise, the participants receive an exercise alert in the app, and afterwards you evaluate how it went. Your team practises with the same app it uses for a real alert.
What you need
The exercise module is not switched on by default. If you want to use it, request it through your Safeguard contact person or the helpdesk. Once it is on, you see the option Schedule exercise under Schedule in Planning, and the Exercises tab under Analytics.
Admins and location admins schedule and lead exercises. A location admin only sees the exercises at their own locations. Safeguard creates the exercises themselves, with the scenario, the criteria and the preparation checklist.
How an exercise works
Schedule the exercise: choose an exercise, the date and time, the location and the participants. Whoever schedules it is the exercise leader.
Wait for the responses. The participants receive a push notification and an email, and confirm in the app whether they will attend.
Prepare the exercise and start it on the scheduled day. The participants you tick receive an exercise alert in the app.
During the exercise, assess each criterion and then complete the exercise.
Give a final evaluation afterwards. You find the exercise again under Analytics, on the Exercises tab.
What makes an exercise alert different
An exercise alert works in the app like a real alert. Participants say whether they are available, see the location and talk via push-to-talk. The screen clearly shows EXERCISE.
An exercise alert does not go to the alarm centre or to the neighbours.
It is not listed with the alerts in the dashboard.
It cannot be escalated.
Participants do not resolve the alert themselves. It closes when the exercise leader completes the exercise, or automatically eight hours after the start.
Users with the role Employee cannot take part. Only emergency responders with the app are listed as participants.
