With the Safeguard Chat feature, you can easily and quickly communicate with your colleagues during an accident or emergency. This integration within the Push to Talk feature allows you to send text messages as well as voice messages through the Safeguard app. This way, you always have an extra communication tool at your disposal. An internet connection via WiFi or 3G/4G is required to use this functionality.
Where can you find the chat on your phone
Each channel within Push to Talk has its own chat. Read more here about Push to Talk and multiple channels.
Once connected to Push to Talk, you can navigate to the chat via the "chat" tab at the top of your screen.
Notifications
When other people post messages in the chat of an incident in which you are active, you will receive a notification on your device. By clicking on this notification, you will be taken directly to the chat.
How do I use the chat?
We have tried to make the chat as intuitive as possible. It works as you are used to in other messaging systems. The current version of the chat supports the following functionalities:
Sending messages
To send a message, use the bar at the bottom. This works just like other chat applications.
Reactions to messages with Emojis
To react to a message, press and hold the message. A menu will then appear for you to select an emoji reaction.
Want to see who has reacted to a message? Click on the reactions next to the message.
Replying to a message
Want to reply to a specific message? Press and hold the message, or swipe the message to the right.
Adding images
Press the image icon to select images. You can upload a maximum of 9 images at once.
FAQ
Can I still view the chat after an incident has been completed?
The chat remains available once the incident is completed. We do this so you can still add extra information later, or use the chat history for evaluation. To view the chat history, navigate to the incident and the associated Push to Talk channel.
Are chat messages secure?
Messages are secure. You can only view chat messages if you are logged in to the relevant organisation.
Disclaimer: We have chosen not to include all possible bells and whistles that a chat application might have (unfortunately no stickers 😉). If you feel something is missing, please don’t hesitate to send us a message.
